Herbert Adams (1874–1958) was an English writer, mostly known for his authorship of so-called “cosy” fifty novels, written in genres of mystic and detective. Significant amount of those novels were concerning various golfing competitions and tournaments and shared detective Roger Bennion as one of the main or secondary characters. Adams was writing short fiction, humoristic poetry and some other mystic novels as well using his penname of Jonatan Gray.

Death of a Viewer is detective novel by Herbert Adams. The narrative is set in a stately estate owned by an former labor union official. A son of his was parliament member convinced his faher to open the family estate for a meeting of a group of Labour Party members and everyone else, who would vouch for him as potential leader of this new formed party. However he is not the only one striving for power in this manor. All set for a perfect crime, but it turns out that there is a detective among guests.
